Within the group, Contract Packers (Midlands) Ltd has been developed over the last 15 years at its base in Woodville, Derbyshire, to provide Vitax with a reliable but flexible packing service for powders, liquids and gels. Now filling over 5 million units per year, the plant undertakes tasks as diverse as display outers of 30ml tubes of Nippon Ant Killer, bottles of Green Up for the lawn care market, to puffers of sulphur dusts for the gardening enthusiasts.
A joint venture with the Irish company Emerald Peat in 1990, gave Vitax an entry into the valuable peat and compost sector of the horticultural market. Here again the company concentrated on a quality product, marketing under the trusted Q4 label. Vitax's comprehensive range offers retailers a 'one-stop' shop with fertilisers, chemicals and compost available from a single supplier.
